Joinery and building work across Stirling

Jamie Robertson Joiners has been based in Stirling since 2016, and most of our work is within a few miles of the city centre. Being local matters on a building job. We can call round to look at a problem the same week, we know which suppliers and trades to bring in, and we are still nearby once the job is finished.

Stirling homes and what they need

Stirling has a real mix of housing, and each type brings its own joinery work.

  • King’s Park and the Old Town. Victorian and Edwardian villas and townhouses, many of them in conservation areas. Work here is often about matching what is already there: sash and case windows, panelled doors, skirtings, architraves and staircases in period profiles, plus kitchen and bathroom refits that suit an older house.
  • Riverside, Causewayhead and Torbrex. Terraces, semis and interwar bungalows where loft conversions and rear extensions add the space growing families need.
  • Bannockburn, St Ninians, Cambusbarron, Cowie, Fallin and Plean. Post-war and modern estates where we fit a lot of kitchens, replace doors and flooring, build garden rooms and carry out general joinery and repairs.

Planning and building warrants in Stirling

Stirling Council is both the planning authority and the building standards authority for the city and the surrounding villages. Extensions and loft conversions normally need a building warrant. Work in a conservation area or on a listed building may need planning permission or listed building consent where it would otherwise be permitted development. We deal with this regularly, will tell you at the quote stage which applies, and work with local architects and structural engineers when drawings and calculations are needed.
